Somers Maplecrest subdivision project likely to move forward

Category: Uncategorized

Village of Somers leadership is confident the first phase of a proposed residential housing project on the former Maplecrest Country Club site will be moving forward.

According to village documents, when fully completed the current plan for the development will bring 765 units, including 443 apartment units, 230 single-family lots and 46 twin homes. No lot would be smaller than 9,000 square feet.

After last week’s Village Board work session, Village President George Stoner said it was “all coming together.”

“I think we’re getting everything we’ve asked. The development is going to be a really good fit for the area,” Stoner said. “I’m excited; the board is excited.”

The project, several years in the making, will help address a lack of housing in the area, Stoner said. Village documents included information gathered by the developer, a partnership between Land Quest and Three Leaf Partners, describing a severe shortage of housing units.
