These Are the States With the ‘Happiest’ Families in America, According to a New Study
Happiness can be one of the hardest things to quantify. You can feel happy about your present circumstances one day and totally frustrated with them the next. As parents, this hits home. And while we try not to paint with too broad a brush regarding our lot in life, stress and burnout are very real things.
To put some measurable data around this felt reality, family clothing design company Posh Peanut recently conducted a study analyzing statistics in family-related costs and divorce rates across the country. The results spotlighted the states where families appear to be happiest.
State(s) of Happiness
According to Posh Peanut, their methodology of calculating a “family happiness index” involved collecting data about divorce rates, infant and child care costs, household size, and the overall health and well-being of children in the state. This last piece is referred to as the “happy child index.”
The study used data from open reports by the CDC and World Population Review along with weighted indicators for each of the above factors to calculate the final state ranking.
