Village Supper Club marks 100 years as Pleasant Prairie establishment

Category: Uncategorized

The end of August marked 100 years of business for the Village Supper Club, which owner Sue Neahous said will continue on.

Neahous, who has owned the business for more than 20 years, and also works as the cook at the popular supper club, 10909 Sheridan Road, said “it’s been maintained the same type of place for the whole 100 years.”

Neahous acquired the business from her brother-in-law, and got to work updating the venue.

“I said, ‘Alright, well, let’s update it. Let’s make it look nice. Let’s make it look like a village supper club,’” she said. “And so we did do the whole outside. We did parking lot (and) the landscaping. It looked like somebody’s old house, so we redid all of the outside to make it look more inviting.”

Since taking over the restaurant, Neahous’s cooking boasts of fresh, made-to-order food.

“We try to make it more like my grandmother’s kitchen,” she said. “We try to use good ingredients, so we don’t cheapen any of it up, but I also try not to pass that onto my customers. I want them to be able to come in and have a good meal and not take all their money out of their pocketbook.”

The most rewarding part of owning the Village Supper Club for Neahous is “having (customers) come to the kitchen and say “Oh it was so good.”

Neahous recalled a time when a customer who is very particular with their preferences ordered an English dish, “And (staff) called me on they said, ‘Oh, you know, table such and such wants to see you.’”

“And it was him, and he said, ‘This is exactly like what my mother made,’” Neahous said.
